Do you feel guilty when you take time for yourself?
Do you feel selfish?
I hear women say all the time that they don't have time for themselves and they are too busy to find the time. Why is this? You are just as important-if not more-as everyone else.
Treat yourself like it! If you truly want to serve others at the highest level, you must start your day at your highest version.
Prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional health is a requirement and the furthest thing from being selfish. When you're unbalanced, your life will begin to mirror that.
When you're struggling with emotional health it may look like:
Withdrawing from social gatherings
Weakened immune systems
Stress, anxiety, & depression
Problems at work
Problems at home
Lack of ability
All of these affect your daily life in a big way, and this is not a good cycle to be in. At all.
It’s taking deliberate actions to prioritize and nurture your physical, mental, and emotional health. By taking care of yourself, you are intentionally replenishing your own energy that’s required in order to be resilient to face life's challenges and fulfill your responsibilities.
When stress & anxiety are then not managed, your chemical & hormonal balance follows with Cortisol & Epinephrine going down causing:
Rapid weight gain (increased sugar/glucose)
High blood pressure - rapid heart rate/breathing
Mood swings
Digestive problems
Chronic pain
Mental & personality disorders
Unhealthy sleep patterns
So much more...
I know this all sounds scary, but that's why I am here for you every step of the way!
Self-growth is not linear and is a process that will benefit you more than you can imagine!
Engaging in self-care will:
Recharge & Rejuvenate
- Increase mental clarity & emotional stability
Increases productivity
- Take breaks + set boundaries = prevents burnout
Improves relationships
- Self-awareness, compassion, acceptance
Be a Role Model
- Encourage others & promote their own well-being
Life is always going to be challenging your emotional well-being. Your ability to be able to find inner strength has to start with learning how to engage in self-care. When you have a daily self-care routine, you're NOT selfish, you're AMAZING!!
Don't forget to be intentional with your self-care and make a deliberate effort to nurture your own growth. Even taking 30 minutes to do an at-home spa or reading your favorite book with a yummy drink. Yes, children can make this a little more difficult, but this can happen when they're napping or asleep. We always think of "everything else we could be doing" but we are the most important "thing" to focus on!
You show up every day for those around you, so start by showing up for yourself!
